Mini Field Stations

HSI’s Mini Field Stations are wireless, data-logging, sensor platforms. Budget-friendly, the stations gather research-grade data and can come fully constructed or in do-it-yourself kits.

Through its Mini Field Stations, HSI provides educators, students and citizen scientists with the opportunity to collect data and make scientific observations on their own. The stations:

Automatically upload sensor data to EcoSensorNetwork.com
Include sensors that can measure changes in tree-stem size throughout the day, detecting changes as small as 1/1000 mm without interference from environmental factors such as thermal expansion. Other sensors, such as soil moisture and temperature, are in development
Can be situated in multiple places within one area of interest to form a network
